Birth and Postpartum Doula Services
Have a better and more empowering birth and postpartum experience, by hiring an experienced professional doula. A doula is there for the parents to help guide them through the experience of birth and the first days home with their babies. Research has shown that mothers who were attended to by a doula had substantially lower rates of medical intervention at birth and parents have an over-all higher satisfaction of the birth experience.
A postpartum doula can make the parents feel more confident and at ease with their new baby. Mother's who have support from a doula after the birth have higher breastfeeding rates and are less likely to suffer from postpartum mood disorders.
Birth doula services include 2 prenatal visits, unlimited phone questions and consultations, back-up doula, unlimited hours for birth, postpartum visit and follow-up.
Postpartum doula services are hourly with a 3 hour minimum. Services include postpartum wellness and healing assistance for the mom, experienced guidance with newborn care, meal preparation, light housework, errands and breastfeeding support and education.

Breastfeeding can be very challenging or questions may arise for the new family. Schedule a visit with a Board Certified Lactation Consultant in the comfort of your own home. visits last from 1-3 hours. Follow-up phone calls are included.
Meet the doula/lactation consultant
All services are conducted by Joanna Boles Whitlow. Joanna is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, professional birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator. She is the director of “For Moms and Babies” as well as the Fall Family Festival. In 2011, Joanna founded the non-profit About Families, and she currently is the director of the organization. She is also the local coordinator for PSI (Postpartum Support International). In 2012, Joanna joined the faculty of CAPPA to train postpartum doulas.
